A beginners guide to Futsal Course

The FA has developed a new Futsal coaching course that will be ready to roll out from February 2010 onwards.

A Beginners Guide will be a 6 hour course aimed at providing candidates with an understanding of the skills and techniques related to the game of Futsal.


Its fun, it's fast, it's FUTSAL - and now you can learn how to play and coach this super-quick game of football.


The FA is committed to developing the FIFA and UEFA approved format of Small Sided Football - Futsal. To support the development of Futsal in England, the FA has devised an introductory six hour coaching course.


Course Objectives
On completion of the course the candidate should be able to:
1. Understand and appreciate the fundamentals of Futsal
2. Organise and coach the basic skills and techniques of Futsal
3. Understand the basic principles of attack and defence of Futsal
4. Appreciate the 'Laws of the Game' of Futsal
5. Have an appreciation of the fitness demands of Futsal
Course of Training - 6 hours
4 hours practical
2 hours theory
 Minimum Age: 16
 Course Duration: 3 hours
 Course Pre requisites: None
 Have an understanding of the fundamentals of Futsal
 Have an understanding of the techniques and basic principles of Futsal
 Have an appreciation of the Laws of the Game of Futsal
 Course aims and objectives: The course is an open access course. Candidates must be 16+

Aims & Objectives
- Have an understanding of the fundamentals of FUTSAL
- Have an understanding of the techniques and basic principles of FUTSAL
- Have an appreciation of the laws of the game of FUTSAL


Course Content:
Theory: The course will introduce some key aspects in the following:
 What is Futsal
 Differences between 5 a-side and Futsal


Practical: Practical elements of the course will provide an introduction to:
 Game play
 The techniques of Futsal
 Game of futsal
 Principles of play
 Rule of Futsal


Practical Involvement: Candidates will be encouraged to participate practically to maximise their opportunities for learning. (This however will not prevent successful completion of the award)

Assessment: Candidates will be formatively assessed throughout the course.


Refresher: No refresher required.
