Following a successful trial day in July the West Midlands Regional Cerebral Palsy squad (16 years of age and above) has been formed.
The purpose of the programme is to provide a development and playing structure that will positively impact the Cerebral Palsy pathway on a regional and national basis.
Birmingham County FA were successful in their application to host a regional team. The team is being led by Head Coach, Paul Reynolds who has a wealth of experience in disability football. Also working with the team are coaches Gemma Kehoe and Eddie Hanbury.
At current there are 17 players regularly training with the squad. The team entered their first set of national fixtures at Lilleshall on Saturday 2nd October 2010 competing with 6 other regional Cerebral Palsy squads from across the country. Overall it was a positive experience for the West Midlands squad and they can now continue to build on this success.
The squad is continually looking to recruit talented players with Cerebral Palsy.
