Meet the Team

Birmingham County FA are supported by an experienced Tesco Skills Team, to develop mini-soccer at grassroots clubs. 

 

The team also bring expertise in coach education, coach mentoring and much more.

Jim McGettrick (Team Leader)

Jim has been a coach for 10 years after playing for Birmingham City from the age of 12 to 16, as well as representing Kidderminster Harriers Bromsgrove Rovers, Evesham United and Stourbridge.

Jim then completed a Sports Education degree at Gloucester University and joined The FA Tesco Skills programme when it launched in 2007. Jim is a Level 3 qualified coach and has completed the FA Youth Award modules 1 and 2.

As part of the Birmingham FA Tesco Skills team, he works with schools and children in the Kings Heath area.

Jimmy Haarhoff

Jimmy is a local legend, having turned out for Birmingham City as well as Chester City in his playing days. Jimmy also started his coaching career with Birmingham City, working with their academy and their Football in the Community Programme.

Jimmy is a Level 3 qualified coach and has completed the FA Youth Award modules one and two.

As part of the Birmingham FA Tesco Skills team, he works with schools and children in the Halesowen area.

Jo Potter

Jo’s playing days included helping Arsenal and Charlton ladies to two FA Women’s Cup Finals, as well as representing England Ladies in a star studded career.

Jo now plays for Birmingham City Ladies FC, who have recently enjoyed a successful start to the FA Women's Super League.

Jo has taken to coaching at the highest level as easily as playing, becoming a Level 3 qualified coach Level 3 qualified coach and has completed the FA Youth Award modules 1 and 2. As part of the Birmingham FA Tesco Skills team, she works with schools and children in the Sheldon area.

Ted Grizzell

Ted has been in coaching for more than eight years, first working with grassroots teams in Worcestershire and volunteering for more than 2,000 hours in football before turning 16. Ted was also part of Coventry City's youth set-up before dedicating himself to coaching full-time.

Aged 17, Ted represented England on an FA project in Malawi and he has worked with The FA since on projects and events including The FA Umbro Fives, The Young Coaches Conference and four Leadership and Volunteering camps. In 2008 Ted got his first job in football as Community Football Coach with Worcestershire FA before joining The FA Tesco Skills team in Birmingham in 2010.

Ted is a Level 3 qualified coach and has completed the FA Youth Award modules 1 and 2. He is also a Level 7 referee.
