FA Community Club opportunity - Coaching 5-11 year old working group

As part of our ongoing commitment to providing Charter Standard Community Clubs with support, Birmingham County FA are pleased to offer clubs the chance to nominate one or two of their coaches to be part of the “coaching 5-11 year olds working group” that is being set up with the FA Tesco Skills coaches who work within the county.

The idea of the group is for current volunteer coaches who are working within the 5-11 year old age group to come together with like minded coaches and share ideas as well as looking at development areas based around coaching. The group aims to help coaches with key challenges when working with 5 – 11 year olds, and to provide a practical working link between The FA’s Youth Award Modules.

Jim McGettrick, FA Tesco’s Skills Coach will be taking a lead within the group and is looking for enthusiastic coaches who your club believe would benefit from the experience. The criteria for somebody to be part of the group is for the coach to be involved with a current Charter Standard Community Club and to be coaching currently in the 5-11 age group. It would also be advisable for selected coaches to have transport available as there will be travelling to other venues to coach.

The group will meet once for an introduction and to plan Key Outcomes for the group at Birmingham County FA. Following this we will plan a variety of support events where the group will have the opportunity to watch Jim and others deliver sessions. Jim and the FA Skills Coaches will then provide ongoing support between our meetings and coaching days.

Please email Jim McGettrick at Jim.McGettrick@thefa.com for more details.
