Insurance

Birmingham County FA and Sportsguard are joining forces to offer affiliated clubs and their members even greater insurance benefits in 2008.

Birmingham County FA has arranged a block Life Scheme for all teams affiliated to the Association.

By BCFA financing this new initiative it allows Sportsguard to reduce Personal Accident Premiums significantly from January 1st 2008.

Once in place, the scheme will ensure everyone connected to the Association is covered, including club officials at no extra cost to your club.

The following benefits will be provided:
Life Insurance:  £500 (natural causes up to age 50)
Accidental Death:  £500 (up to age 75)

These are minimum benefits - clubs will be offered the opportunity to increase the benefits by making additional payments.

There will also be League Schemes available at even greater reduced premiums.

Why have insurance at all?

The majority of fit young adults who play football never believe they will get injured.

Unfortunately every year Sportsguard and other Insurance companies record thousands of claims from broken toes and fingers to loss of sight or even amputation of legs.

Over the last 5 years Sportsguard has recorded 7 deaths from natual causes.

When a player has an injury which keeps him or her off work for more than 4 weeks, serious hardship can follow.  There are many companies who now only pay Statutory Sick Pay (SSP) and take the attitude "Why should we pay wages to someone who is injured playing their chosen sport?  They should be insured for that sport."

Sportsguard are going to give every Club and League the opportunity to have a reasonable level of cover at the best premiums they have ever been offered, along with the opportunity to spread payments.
