Birmingham City Ladies continued their domination of the Women’s Cup with a 6-1 win over West Bromwich Albion to take home the silver wear for the 8th time. 

Birmingham City Ladies continued their domination of the Women’s Cup with a 6-1 win over West Bromwich Albion to take home the silver wear for the 8th time.

The first 10 minutes of the game kicked off with a high voltage attack by Birmingham City powered on by Becky Hall who let rip a spectacular volley which smashed through the top right hand corner of the goal to bring them 1- 0 up.

West Bromwich Albion replied by rallying their team to the opposing goal to try and break through the tough defence of Birmingham City. Amy Rippington was the closest to goal but her run was cut short outside the penalty box.

West Bromwich Albion continued to keep strong and try and halt the electrifying flow of play that Birmingham City were displaying but 15 minutes to the half way mark Becky Hall blasted another shot past her twin sister who was in goal to bring them 2 goals ahead.

Minutes later Birmingham City’s Sally Lacey brought the blues 3-0 up with a lovely header straight through the centre of goal.

As the clock ticked to half time Birmingham City were clearly in control of the game as Chelsea Weston and Sally Lacey scored in the final minutes to bring the score line to 5- 0.

In the second half it was a whole new game as West Bromwich Albion came out with there heads held high to halt the mighty Blues. The ladies came together and pressed forward to pressure the blues to open up their tight defences and kept there own defence line as tight as possible.

Natalie Hall made a magnificent save from a spectacular shot from her sister Becky Hall in the opening minutes to show case West Broms determination to close the gap.

However moments later Becky tried again to grab her second as she continued to cause a menace in the defence of West Brom. She did come inches of clinching her second but West Brom remained calm and collective and Fiona Hamilton cleared her closest shot at goal off the line.

7 minutes later Birmingham City’s Marie Gauntlett crept through the defences but her shot hit the post.

West Bromwich Albion got a well deserved goal back with 10 minutes to go with a lovely goal by Natasha Baptiste to bring the score 5-1

However it was game over with 6 minutes to go as Becky Hall finally managed to grab her second to leave the final score 6-1.

The winning trophy was presented by West Midlands Fire Service’s Kevin Riley sponsors of the Cup alongside Mr Terry Hyde from the BCFA.
