Your Chance to Strike for Sutton

09:04 GMT, Thursday, 26 June 08. Charter Standard

Sutton Strikes Girls FC is holding an Open Day for girls of all ages on Sunday 29th June in a bid to expand the club even further next season.

The FA Charter Standard Club is particularly interested in finding goalkeepers at Under 14 and 15 ages and all players at Under 10s but girls of all ages are invited to take part in the fun coaching sessions between 10am and 12.30pm at Sutton United FC, Rectory Park.

Another successful season for Sutton Strikes Girls FC culminated with a tremendous performance in the recent Blackpool 7s. The Club were represented at this national tournament by teams at four age groups, with all sides performing well and progressing to the latter stages of the knockout competitions.

The Under 11 girls were narrowly beaten 2 -1 in the Cup Final by a strong Preston North End Academy side, however the Under 15s managed to lift the plate trophy with a hard fought victory, keeping their nerve to eventually win their final on penalties.

“The continued success of the Club, in terms of trophies, is pleasing but the growth really results from making the football enjoyable and unpressured for all girls,” said Club Secretary Debbie Pritchard-Jones.

Access to the venue is via Hollyfield Road, Sutton Coldfield (behind St Chad’s Church). For more information please contact Debbie on 07787 548957.
