Free inspiration for Burton's Footy Mums

9:56 AM, Tuesday, 02 February 10. Women and Girls

A special workshop for Burton football mums is being held on Saturday, 27th February at Marstons Sports & Social Club on Shobnall Road, Burton, to give women the opportunity to learn more about child protection, coaching, fund raising and the administration required for running a team and/or club.

The intention is to get more mums involved in grassroots football and help support the 5,000 children who play in the Burton Junior Football League every week.

The event is being run by footymums.com in association with Birmingham County FA and supported by the Burton Junior Football League. It is free and will run from 9.30am to 11.30am.

Heidi Lockyer and Polly Fildes from Birmingham County FA will be giving presentations on child welfare and coaching - talking through the practicalities of what is involved and the logistics of these vital areas.

Footymums' Bron Moss will be providing a whole range of suggestions for fundraising, from getting local sponsorship to ideas for making money for local teams and clubs by running events. Bron commented: 'While we know mums love supporting their children's football, we want to inspire them to get actively involved. We hope to offer something for everyone at our workshop - whether you are sporty and fancy running a club or help with training, or perhaps you are an admin person and can help with the paperwork. Or maybe you just fancy finding out how you have some fun with some footymum friends running fundraising socials. Even if you know nothing about football, we can hopefully show how you can make a contribution.'
