The event supported by Kick It Out and the BCFA is aimed at Primary pupils from Years 5-6 and Secondary pupils from Years 7-8 and goals that will be used at the festival will be kindly donated from sponsors Quick Play Sport.
Event organiser, Doug Morgan said: “Our events are about celebrating everyone’s past, everyone’s present, everyone’s future. Birmingham is a dynamic city because of its multiculturalism. To anyone that wants to blame their multicultural neighbours because of the problems of the economy we say get real. Racism only divides us, making us all weaker. Hundreds of school kids will join us on Tuesday to celebrate the rich mix of cultures that are around us. Birmingham, like our planet, is a diverse place – and we love it!”
The festival will feature training sessions from Birmingham FA that will allow the children to mix within their age groups and the festival will also give the children opportunity to take part in Its only the colour of the shirt that counts song/rap competition . The songs will celebrate the multicultural world that we live and learn in. With Love Music Hate Racism judging the entries, the top 20 tracks sent in will be pressed into a CD which will be sent out free to every school.
BCFA Social Inclusion officer Mohammed Juned said “This festival is a fantastic event which really brings all the community together under one roof to celebrate the multi cultural city that we live in, using football and music as a tool to help with celebrating and learning about each other”
Juned added “ I would like to give a big than you for Quick Play Sports for donating the goals that will be used at the festival”
Steve Crosby Managing Directory of Quick Play Sport said "Quick play sports is proud to sponsor a festival that mixes football with music! Everyone loves both so much. I am amazed this isn't happening every weekend in every park in the country! I'm really looking forward to having a wonderful day, watching football and listening to some briliant music!"
