2:39 PM, Friday, 13 January 12. Women and Girls

Birmingham County are joining forces with a number of different partners to bring you a celebration of girl's football during February half term with a host of activities for players, parents and coaches to take part in.

February and March 2012 sees girls’ football take to the road when the sport is promoted throughout England in a new ‘Girls’ Football Festival’ – run by The Football Association, in association with Continental.

13 events will take place during February and March across the country, kicking off in Birmingham on Monday 13th February 2012.

The ‘Girls’ Football Festival’ aims to inspire girls aged 5 – 17 to get involved in football, or for those 1m+ girls who are already playing to come along and bring their friends who are new to the game.

The roadshow will see informal, lively, festival style events which combine football, lifestyle and music to encourage girls to get involved. Those attending will get the chance to play with the stars of the game as members of the England squad, potential Olympic players and FA WSL stars will also be at every event to meet, chat and have a kickabout with the girls.

Everything from warming up exercises, goalkeeping challenges and small sided playing areas will be available at the festivals. Indoor domes will house trophies and digital stations to entertain girls when they need a break from playing, as well as parents, who are also catered for with indoor food and drink areas to relax in.

If you miss out on the events in February and March, the roadshow will continue to travel around the country throughout the summer and will feature at many FA WSL games - the new semi professional women’s football league which plays throughout the summer from April to October.

The Birmingham event will be held at Sandwell Valley Park, West Brom and will emcompass the following activities...

  • Girl's Football Taster Sessions
