Coventry United Ladies vs Leafield Athletic Girls match report

Leafield started the brighter of the two teams, with an early shot being parried behind for a corner. However Coventry United had the best of the chances with a shot just wide of the far post by Jasmine Ancell. The first goal came 10 minutes into the game with Ancell beating two players before firing a shot into the roof of the net. Coventry kept piling on the pressure, and a header from Tiarna Gilkes was gathered by the Leafield keeper Lizzie Houldey.

The second goal from Coventry came in the 19th minute, Ancell played through on goal and beat the keeper. Leafield however did not lose hope with Amy Andrews seeing chances saved by the Coventry keeper Paris Newman.

The second half produced more chances, more counter attacks and inevitably more goals. Leafield scored within minutes of the restart, Andrews converting one of her chances. Soon the scores were level with Leafield getting a goal in the 67th minute Isobel Godfrey. However Coventry hit straight back in the 69th minute, Baylee Parry with a goal after a deflection off the keeper. Leafield were not about to give up on this game however and had a variety of chances to equalise. In the 78th minute Leafield hit the bar. The last few minutes were played at a frantic pace, but Leafield were unable to find the equaliser.
