Pitch Improvement Programme

We are now approaching the end of the first year of the pitch improvement programme. In the last 12 months Birmingham County FA in conjunction with the Institute of Groundsmanship (IOG) have carried out visits at 36 sites in the county covering 118 grass pitches.

The purpose of these visits has been to assess the current level of maintenance on the sites and provide support in terms of how they can be better managed in the future. The sites involved have ranged from clubs in the national leagues system through to grass roots clubs.

During this time the FA have also announced two pitch improvement partners to support the programme, Redexim Charterhouse (machinery supplier) and Rigby Taylor (consumables supplier). We are working closely with both these partners to provide cost effective solutions to support clubs who have been involved in the programme.

There have also been two workshops held in Birmingham and Leamington both of which were well attended by clubs and supported by our partners the IOG, Redexim Charterhouse and Rigby Taylor.

The workshops gave attendees the opportunity to find out more about the programme, see demonstrations from partners and provided a platform for discussions around better pitch management and maintenance.

The next workshop will take place on Monday 26th September at the Dell Stadium

The workshops will also include demonstrations by our two machinery and materials partners Redemix Charterhouse and Rigby Taylor who are experts in the field from Institute of Groundsmanship.

There will also be a Q&A session with experts in the field along with more information on the BCFA Pitch Improvement Programme including funding that is available to support the programme.
