HAPPY BIRTHDAY DERRICK MAY

The Coventry & Warwickshire Youth League Secretary celebrated his 80th birthday on Saturday 7th July.

Everyone at Birmingham County FA would like to wish a very Happy Birthday to Derrick May. The Coventry & Warwickshire Youth League Secretary celebrated his 80th birthday on Saturday 7th July, which was further enhanced by England’s victory over Sweden.

Derrick is one of the longest-serving League Secretaries in the country and has been involved in football for over 45 years. During this time, he has fulfilled a series of roles including being a coach, a referee mentor whilst doing disciplinary work at BCFA.

For the past 30 years Derrick has been League Secretary of Coventry & Warwickshire Youth League where he has guided generations of footballers, developed the league and given his all to football in the County.

Rachael Mitchell-Blunt, Senior Education Officer at BCFA, stated: “Over the past 10 years of working with Derrick, you can clearly see the passion and pride he shows for football, refereeing and the Coventry & Warwickshire Youth League.

I personally would like to wish Derrick a Happy 80th Birthday and thank him for his continuous support within the football community.”

Lesley Proctor, a close friend of Derrick, added: “He has done amazing work within the league, with referees and football as a whole.

The Coventry & Warwickshire Youth League ought to be called the Derrick May League!”

Derrick May is a fantastic servant to football with many benefitting from his services across the County.
