BCFA University League

The Birmingham FA University League was set up in the Academic Year 2014-15 to provide 11v11 competition to players that were part of internal recreation programmes at The University of Birmingham, The University of Warwick and Coventry University. It was to increase opportunities for players not already playing in BUCS competition. This was because each University had a funded BUCS University Football Activator to drive for an increase in participation. Each University entered 2 x 11-a-side leagues.

In its first season teams played around 7 games in an unstructured league environment. However after liaising with teams for the academic year 2015-16 we decided that it would be best for all teams to play each other once before Christmas (5 games) and for a break off after Christmas of the top three and bottom three to play 2 extra games. This gives each team 7 games and a chance to play for the shield (whole league) and premier (top three) and championship (bottom three) plates.

We also decided that in 2015-16 an end of season Cup competition based at BCFA would be a great way to finish the league.
In academic year 2016-17 we are hoping to expand the league from 6-10 teams so if your University falls in The Black Country, Birmingham, Coventry or Warwickshire please feel free to get in contact for further details.
