BUCS University Football Activators

BUCS in partnership with the FA and with funding from Sport England's Whole Sport Plan (WSP) will be deploying 73 Football activators into 64 universities. BUCS will do this by partnering up with County FA's to recruit University Football Activators (UFA's) to deliver key National Game Strategy targets within universities. The UFA's will be current students at the university and will be based at universities positioned within the university sports development departments or equivalent department for sport at the university.

The aim of the programme is to develop 9,000 new football participants. 2,250 must be female and 6,750 male participants. This breaks down to a minimum of 40 new participants per activator per year and contributes towards the growth of university and community football through more teams and enhanced opportunities.

We currently have Univserity Football Activators at:

  • University of Birmingham
  • University of Warick
  • Coventry University

The UFA’s will focus on delivering the following key priorities

  • Implementation of FA Higher Education football intervention programmes such as Team TwentyThree, FA Just Play and Respect.
  • Strengthening university intra mural and club football competitions.
  • Supporting student leaders to access football related qualifications to enhance personal skills and experience.
  •  Developing strong links with local community football supporting the transition from university football into FA Charter Standard clubs and leagues.
  • Support aspiring student leaders to improve personal development by creating a range of volunteering opportunities.
  • Delivering club links between universities and charter standard clubs
