The 2017 Referee Awards were held at Ray Hall Lane with a total of 44 awards presented on the night to officials celebrating various years of refereeing.

 

21 Years Service

 
To start the evening, Birmingham FA celebrated the following referees who have served 21 years of refereeing. Simon Amos, Joe Archbold, Pete Durnall, Jane Huffer, Anthony Jones, Terence Lawson, Ian Simpson, Mark Whitehouse, Emma Wilkinson and John Woodhouse. 

 

25 Years Service

 

Secondly we recognised the achievements of officials who have refereed for 25 Years. The following referees received the award this year - David Andrews, Phillip Gibbs, Terence James, Gerry Larkin, Michael Latham, Philip Magness, Rob McCarthy, Paul Slater, Terence Smith, Malcolm Steward, Alan Waddington, Craig Ward, and Silvanus Ward.

 

National Final Recognition

Birmingham FA dedicated this prestigious award to recognise the special achievement to Birmingham FA referees who were appointed to officiate in FA Cup Final competitions.

Referee of the Year

Tom Reeves received the award after being nominated by his peers, which is a fantastic achievement and testament to Tom's achievements over the past 12 months. 

 

40 Years Service

 

Congratulations to the following Referees who have dedicated a fantastic 40 Years to Refereeing: Giuseppe Bonarrigo, Malcolm Garret, William Murray, Arthur Page and Jonathan Taylor.

 

Long Service Award

Rounding of the evening was The Long Service Awards, which aims to recognise the tremendous service given by referees who have officiated for 50 years. The Long Service Award was presented to the following referees - Andrew Hackitt, Robert Harrington, Kenneth Knight, Duncan MacAulay and Michael Penn.

Birmingham FA Referee Development Officer, Richard Watson commented "It was such a fantastic evening, and an absolute pleasure to pay tribute to the numerous successes and achievements of our referees, over the past 12 months and years before.

I would also like to thank Ray Olivier from the PGMOL and Nigel Peck, Chairman of the Referees Committee at Birmingham County FA, who attended and supported the annual Referee Awards evening".
