Youth Leaders

Birmingham county fa youth leaders

What is Youth Leaders?

Youth Leaders is a group of 16-25 year olds who meet on a monthly basis to support the County FA and be a voice for young people in football. As well as this, we focus on personal development by running workshops and providing experiences for our members to help support future aspirations.

What do we get up to?

Our aim is to support the County FA to achieve their targets, whilst working with members by providing CPD to help with their personal development.

Previously we have supported the delivery of events such as the Tri County Female Football Festival, a Wildcats Retention Evening and Futsal Finals. We have also fulfilled roles, including the Public Address and Matchday Coordination, at our County Cup Finals. As well as this, we have collected insight at the #WeOnlyDoPositive MP Visit, a Mini Soccer Referee Conversion Course and Midnight League.

What are the benefits?

Youth Leaders gives you the opportunity to build your CV through various opportunities, which will help increase your employability. You will also get a hands on experience in the football industry, whilst being given the opportunity to expand your network with County FA staff and the wider FA community.

As a reward for our members at the end of each season, some will be given the opportunity to attend FA Leadership Academy, an event where young leaders from around the country, Europe and the world are enrolled on a year-long training programme designed to improve leadership skills. The initial four days of training is spent at St. George's Park.

The Impact Of Birmingham County FA's Youth Leaders

One of the best ways of showcasing the impact Youth Leaders could have on you is through Josie, who joined in 2018.

After getting involved and grasping every opportunity that came her way, Josie was awarded Volunteer of the Year at our annual Grassroots Football Awards. Since then, she was appointed Chair of Birmingham County FA's Youth Leaders in 2019 and became a member of The FA National Youth Council during the 2019/20 campaign.

This highlights the progress and opportunities that come from volunteering.
