PREVIEW: SATURDAY MINOR CUP FINAL

AFC Solihull And Coventry Sphinx Juniors Go Head-To-Head For The 2019 Birmingham County FA Saturday Minor Cup.

Finals season continues for Birmingham County FA as AFC Solihull take on Coventry Sphinx Juniors for the Saturday Minor Cup on Saturday 18 May.

The Final is to be played at the home of Birmingham County FA, the Walter Goodman Stadium, and is due to get underway at 11.00am.

Being only the second season that the competition has run, both teams will be aiming to follow in the footsteps of last year’s winners DBA and lift the trophy for the first time. The respective runs of both sides would give optimism to fans and players alike to do just that.

After receiving a bye in the First Round and being awarded a walkover against Walsall, AFC Solihull did not actually get their campaign started until the Quarter-Finals. Once there, they began in style with an 8-1 hammering of Black Country Rangers Saturday. David Nurrish’s troops then booked their place in the Final as they edged past Dudley Town Youth Saturday 2-1 at home.

Elsewhere, Coventry Sphinx Juniors have had slightly more practice as they aim to take the glory. Also receiving a bye in the First Round, they too got off to the perfect start with a 4-1 win against Tamworth. They followed that up by coasting past Hednesford Town Newlands 3-0 before then battling to a 2-1 win against Birmingham St George’s to confirm their meeting with Solihull.

Supporters can expect some goals shared between the two teams, with both of them having scored 10 each on their route to the Final. The Final is set to be an open and entertaining clash as the sides vie for silverware.
