Birmingham County FA achieve King's Award for Enterprise

We are one of 252 organisations nationally to be recognised with a prestigious King’s Award for Enterprise.

Birmingham County FA has been honoured with the first-ever King’s Award for Enterprise for Sustainable Development.

We are one of 252 organisations nationally to be recognised with a prestigious King’s Award for Enterprise. 

Announced on Monday 6 May, we have been recognised for our excellence in Sustainable Development for our acclaimed Save Today, Play Tomorrow programme. A total of 257 Awards are made with five companies being recognised with two Awards.

Employing 25 people, Birmingham County FA was founded in 1875 and is a not-for-profit membership organisation acting as the Regional Governing Body for Football across the West Midlands responsible for governing and developing local grassroots football across Birmingham, Wolverhampton & Coventry.

Kevin Shoemake, Chief Executive of Birmingham County FA, said: “We are thrilled to accept the King's Award 2024 for Sustainable Development and have our Save Today, Play Tomorrow programme recognised by His Majesty the King.

“We made a strategic commitment to improve the national game’s impact on the environment within the West Midlands and this fantastic honour is testament to what we’ve already achieved in such a short space of time whilst supporting those in the grassroots game to have a better understanding of the challenges, and make positive changes which will benefit generations to come.”

The King’s Awards for Enterprise, previously known as The Queen’s Awards for Enterprise, were renamed last year to reflect His Majesty The King’s desire to continue the legacy of HM Queen Elizabeth II’s by recognising outstanding UK businesses. 

The Award programme, now in its 58th year, is the most prestigious business award in the country, with successful businesses able to use the esteemed King’s Awards Emblem for the next five years.
