BIRMINGHAM FA & MCDONALD’S GRASSROOTS FOOTBALL AWARDS TAKE PLACE AT ST. ANDREW’S STADIUM

On Monday 16th July 2018, Birmingham FA hosted their annual Grassroots Football Awards at the home of Birmingham City to celebrate #GrassrootsHeroes in our County.

Jenny Wilkes, BBC West Midlands Radio Presenter, hosted the event which saw 11 Awards handed out by former professional footballers.

The evening celebrated the work of individuals and groups to instill The FA’s PRIDE values – Progressive, Respectful, Inclusive, Determination and Excellent – and those who make a positive difference in their club, league or local community.

All of the winners and runners up received a trophy and certificate to recognise their achievements.

Here is the full list of Birmingham County FA & McDonald's Grassroots Football Awards 2018 winners:

Coach of the Year Winner – Ian Postle, Halesowen Town Colts.
Coach of the Year Runner Up – Jade Guppy, Bournville F.C.

Community Project of the Year Winner – Birmingham Youth Sports Academy.
Community Project of the Year Runner Up – Midnight Ramadan League.

Charter Standard Club of the Year Winner – Solihull Moors.
Charter Standard Club of the Year Runner Up – Real Aston F.C.

Charter Standard League of the Year Winner – West Midlands Powerchair Regional League.
Charter Standard League of the Year Runner Up – Stourbridge & District Youth Football League.

Grounds Team of the Year Winner – Asa & Marissa Humphries, Kewford Eagles.
Grounds Team of the Year Runner Up – Neil Cartwright, Coton Green F.C.

Match Official of the Year Winner – Mike Parr.
Match Official of the Year Runner Up – Ken Cox.

The Respect Award Winner – Stourbridge & District Youth Football League. 
The Respect Award Runner Up – Birmingham Youth Sports Academy.

Supporter of the Year Winner – Mick Dourneen, Bromford Lions.
Supporter of the Year Runner Up – Emma Hardy, Rugby Town Valley Juniors.

Volunteer of the Year Winner – Pauline Hickman, Halas Hawks.
Volunteer of the Year Runner Up – Liam Coulter, Rugby Town Juniors.

Young Volunteer of the Year Winner – Barton Rovers Junior Leaders.
Young Volunteer of the Year Runner Up – James Tolley, Chapelfields Colts.

Welfare Officer of the Year Winner – Justine Day, Stratford Town Colts.
Welfare Officer of the Year Runner Up – Martin Holliday, Stourbridge & District Youth Football League.

Two Prestigious Cup Final Awards were also handed out on the evening to Tom Reeves, FA County Youth Cup Final 2018 Fourth Official, and Sian Massey-Ellis for her UEFA Women’s Champions League Final 2018 Assistant Referee appointment.

Stourbridge & District Youth Football League followed up winning the Birmingham FA & McDonald's Grassroots Respect Award by winning the FA’s National Respect Award. Everyone at Birmingham County FA would like to congratulate the SDYFL on this fantastic achievement, which was further enhanced by their name being projected onto Wembley Stadium.

Birmingham FA would like to thank everyone who attended the evening, congratulate the winners and runners up in each category alongside the individuals who submitted nominations. It was a fantastic evening which recognised and rewarded the outstanding contribution and achievement from leagues, clubs and volunteers within our County over the past 12 months.
