GET BACK INTO REFEREEING

We Want You To Get Involved & Ref For All.

Refereeing across Birmingham County FA has changed over the last couple of years with there being more opportunities than ever before to engage and officiate across our County.

Football has moved away from only being played on the weekend with it taking place during the week, with some matches even taking place during the night. There are also more formats to officiate which include Walking Football, Disability Football, Over 50s, Mini Soccer and 11v11 provision – Just to name a few.

We understand that you may have taken a break from Refereeing or not know how to get involved at all, which is why our role is to support and guide you through this process. Below are some reasons which will hopefully convince you to officiate again.

  1. Great way to maintain fitness
  2. Great way to earn additional funds
  3. Opportunities to progress and develop
  4. It is flexible so you are in control
  5. Great way to stay involved in the game

How Can You Get Back Into Refereeing?

If you have previously been a registered referee in the last five years, the process to get back involved in the game is straightforward making it easy to return. Here is an overview on what to do depending on the amount of time you have been out of the game:

2 Years: Simply contact Birmingham County Football Association and speak to our Referee Development Officer. Alternatively email Support@BirminghamFA.com with the subject line “Get Back into Refereeing 2016/17.” Once you get in contact with us you can start officiating straight away.

3-4 Years: To start Refereeing again you will need to retake the exam. To do this please contact our Referee Development Officer via 0121 357 4278 or email Support@BirminghamFA.com with the subject line “Get Back into Refereeing Rearrange Exam” and we will talk you through the process.

5 Years: Similar to Referees who have been out of the game for 3-4 years, you will need to retake the exam before starting again. If you do not do this, your qualification will expire meaning you will have to redo the full qualification if you want to officiate again. For further information please email Support@BirminghamFA.com with the subject line “Get Back into Refereeing 2013/14.”

Important: You must have an accepted FA Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check in order to officiate in Youth Football.
