BIRMINGHAM SENIOR CHALLENGE CUP FINAL VENUE CONFIRMED

Birmingham City Football Club's St. Andrew's To Host The 2019 Birmingham Senior Challenge Cup Final.

Birmingham County Football Association is excited to announce that the 2019 Birmingham Senior Challenge Cup final is to be hosted at Birmingham City Football Club’s St. Andrew’s on Thursday 2nd May 2019.

Kicking-off at 7.30pm, the 2019 Birmingham Senior Challenge Cup final promises to be a hugely entertaining encounter; contested between Leamington and Nuneaton Borough – two clubs with a rich recent history in the competition, which is among the oldest in the country.

Leamington last tasted Senior Challenge Cup glory just two seasons ago when, in 2017, the Brakes defeated Wolverhampton Wanderers 5-4 on penalties to lift Birmingham County FA’s most prestigious piece of silverware.

Opponents Nuneaton Borough, on the other hand, will be looking to go one further than in recent seasons. The club has reached the Birmingham Senior Challenge Cup final on three occasions since the turn of the decade. In the first of those three appearances, in 2010, Nuneaton beat Alvechurch 2-1 to win the competition – and returned to the final a season later looking to retain the trophy. However, a narrow 1-0 loss to Sutton Coldfield Town denied the club of that achievement. Nuneaton Borough’s last appearance in the final came in 2015, where Birmingham City provided the opposition and Blues emerging 2-1 victors on that occasion.

St. Andrew’s has become a regular venue for Birmingham County FA’s Senior Challenge Cup final in the past few years, with last year’s showpiece encounter also hosted at the Championship ground.

Kevin Shoemake, CEO at Birmingham County FA, said: “The Birmingham Senior Challenge Cup final is one of the highlights of the local grassroots football calendar which deserves to be played in a stadium fitting the occasion. Birmingham City’s wonderful St. Andrew’s definitely falls into that category, and we’re once again appreciative of all at Birmingham City Football Club for allowing us to host what promises to be an entertaining final at their home ground.

“We’d like to see as many football supporters from across the Birmingham county, whether they’re regular supporters of our two finalists or not, to come down to St. Andrew’s and really enjoy what are always great occasions and celebrations of local grassroots football.”

Tickets for the Birmingham County FA Senior Challenge Cup final are £10 Adults and £5 Concessions (over-60s, under-18s and students with valid NUS cards). Supporters under the age of 12 will be admitted for free. Tickets will be available on the gate on the night.

A matchday programme will also be available on the night, available at £2.
