Eve Richards and Hadassah St. Juste

FROM GRASSROOTS TO THE WORLD STAGE

Birmingham County FA is excited to learn that two of the county’s grassroots players are heading out of the Midlands to report for international duty.

Two players with Heath Ballerz have been selected to represent Saint Kitts and Nevis’ women’s Under-20s – Eve Richards and Hadassah St. Juste

The pair have jetted out to be with their international team-mates ahead of the team’s CONCACAF Women’s Under-20 Championship finals campaign.

Taking place in the Dominican Republic between 22 February and 8 March, Saint Kitts and Nevis are joined in the tournament by USA, Canada, Jamaica and Haiti among others.

Both Eve and Hadassah are volunteers for ‘Raising The Level’; a local youth organisation in Birmingham. Whilst working on a summer scheme, following feedback from local young people, Heath Ballerz’s boys’ team was established.

As a result of a demand from girls wishing to play, a social media campaign gathered huge interest and Heath Ballerz Ladies was formed, providing opportunities for females like themselves who previously lacked opportunities to play competitive football.

Since being established, Heath Ballerz Under-18s joined the girls’ Central Warwickshire League. During one of the games, a visitor from Saint Kitts was watching and so impressed with what they say that contact was made with the club upon their return to call up the players for international duty.

Birmingham County FA is incredibly proud to see two local girls from one of our grassroots clubs represent Birmingham, their club and themselves whilst representing the nation of Saint Kitts and Nevis.

It’s an incredible achievement – and we all wish both Eve and Hadassah a safe journey and the very best of luck on their exciting football journey.
