How we're supporting female coaches across the grassroots game

We recently caught up with our county’s FA Coach Mentor, Dave Lawrence

Birmingham County FA’s Senior Football Development Officer, Luke Bowles, recently caught up with our county’s FA Coach Mentor, Dave Lawrence, whose role is to support female coaches across the grassroots game.
We spoke with Dave about his background, current roles and most importantly how he can support our Female Coach Workforce in the grassroots game.

The fa coach mentor programme

The FA Coach Mentor programme has been designed to support grassroots coaches and to enable coaches to continue their coaching with confidence. That’s why we’re really proud of our FA coach mentor programme - a free-to-access initiative that’s available to any grassroots coach and provides in club support in areas such as:

  *   One-to-one support
  *   Development of an individual learning programme
  *   Needs analysis and feedback for individual coaches
  *   Match day observation and support
  *   Coaching demonstrations
  *   Support with developing a club philosophy

Mentor support is really easy to access. In the five years since we started the programme, our coach mentors have supported more than 40,000 coaches, and that number is growing every day.
