DBS Measures Guidance Update

The latest DBS guidance issued by the FA is as follows

The latest DBS guidance issued by the FA is as follows:

The date of DBS checks that are due to expire between 1st October 2020 and 31st May 2021 will be extended by one calendar year. This follows the action that was taken in April 2020 for checks that expired between 1st March 2020 and 31st September 2020 to be extended by one calendar year.
For the avoidance of doubt, only checks expiring between 1st October 2020 and 31st May 2021 are to be extended. DBS checks that were extended 1st March to 31st September are not to be extended further.

The extensions to DBS validity will be made during the week of 1st February 2021, and communications will be sent out to those affected the same week. The individuals won’t need to action anything, the new date will automatically be added to their Whole Game portal.

Last year the FA changed the DBS application process for club and team officials by using Whole Game to initiate Managers/Coaches’ DBSs via the Whole Game System, utilising their FAN Numbers, avoiding duplicate FANs and in many cases, speeding up the process to ensure that their DBS is attributed to their FAN as a result.

Since taking this forward, Club Welfare Officers can now see a DBS Applications tab at the top of the Safeguarding page within their Whole Game. This has required all clubs to complete some admin around their GB Group Pin, and automatically add the club welfare officer as the club’s verifier.

If your club has yet to integrate onto the Whole Game system please email, safeguarding@birminghamfa.com to ensure this is completed.
