Green Innovation Fund

In September this year Birmingham County FA launched the first ever Green Innovation Fund.

In September this year, Birmingham County FA launched the first ever Green Innovation Fund to support grassroots football clubs across the region on their journey to reduce their impact on the Environment.

The £25K fund is another example of Birmingham County FA’s commitment to invest in local football and empower clubs to make positive infrastructure changes that may not otherwise have been possible.

The fund received almost 60 applications from clubs of all sizes totalling over £19K across a range of green initiatives that includes:

- The replacement of almost 2000 plastic bottles with reusables

- The installation of solar panels

- Mental Health training for club volunteers

- The installation of Electric Vehicle Charge Points

- Recycling bins

Richard Lindsay, the Project Lead for Save Today, Play Tomorrow said “This fund is a fantastic opportunity for all our clubs no matter what size or level to invest in small changes that can make a huge difference to the environmental impact football is having on our planet. The fund allows clubs to be creative in their thinking and it has been great to be able to support so many fantastic initiatives”.

The fund will reopen again in March 2022 with further funding available, please follow our social channels to be notified of when the funding window will open
