Groundsman Awards 2016

Groundsman of the Year 2016 - Let's celebrate the amazing work they do.

After the success of last season, the awards have returned to recognise the excellent achievements of those individuals who spend hours and hours catering for their beloved clubs pitch.

The Groundsmen at this level of football are nearly all volunteers who give up hours of their time to provide the best pitches possible using very few resources. This competition is a excellent way for these volunteers to be recognised on a local and national scale, whilst also providing the opportunity to meet and talk with the professionals who conduct the judging and share best practice.

Summary of 2014/2015 Awards

The Awards Day followed in the footsteps of the successful 2015 competition and took place in mid-August at St George’s Park. The nominees were given a guided tour of the site as well as an insightful presentation from Alan Ferguson (Head of Grounds & Estates) regarding the work that goes on at the facility. The awards ceremony took place in the afternoon with members of The FA Facilities Committee presenting the winners with their certificates and trophies.

The winners were then invited as special guests for the England v Estonia European Championship qualifying fixture in October. The winners enjoyed the hospitality on offer before being treated to an opportunity to join the Wembley Ground Staff on the pitch at half time.
